This privacy notice covers the North Somerset Local Food and Drink Directory at food.innorthsomerset.co.uk.

This website is operated by North Somerset Council. North Somerset Council is registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Directory registration

When a business registers for the directory via our online registration form, we collect:

  • Business name, address and contact details
  • Name and email address of the person submitting the registration
  • Business description, product information and photographs


We use this information to:

  • Create and publish a listing in the North Somerset Local Food and Drink Directory
  • Contact the business about their listing
  • Promote local food and drink businesses to residents, visitors and buyers


Legal basis: Public task – this directory supports North Somerset Council’s economic development functions.

3. Website analytics

We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous information about how visitors use this website, including pages visited and approximate location. We cannot identify individual users from this data.

Legal basis: Legitimate interests – to understand and improve the website.

5. How we store and share your data

Business listing information is stored securely by North Somerset Council. Information you submit including: business name, description, contact details, location and images will be published on this website as part of the directory.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data with third parties except where required by law or where necessary to deliver this service.

Registration forms on this website are processed by Cognito Forms. See the Cognito Forms privacy policy for details of how they handle data.

Website analytics are processed by Google. See Google’s privacy policy for details.

6. How long we keep your data

Business listing data is retained for as long as the listing remains active. If you request removal from the directory, your listing and associated data will be deleted within 30 days.

Registration and contact data is retained in accordance with North Somerset Council’s records retention schedule.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to how we use your data
  • Request restriction of processing
